As AI continues to reshape the digital evidence landscape, investigators face a dual challenge: confronting emerging threats like deepfakes while harnessing AI as a force multiplier. This presentation will explore both sides of the equation, from strengthening media authentication in the AI era to applying AI in ways that surface insights previously beyond reach. Brandon Epstein is an experienced digital forensics examiner, educator, researcher and retired law enforcement officer with deep expertise in media forensics and evidence authentication. At Magnet Forensics, Brandon focuses on the responsible and effective integration of emerging AI technologies into digital investigations. He is the chair of the SWGDE and is a member of IAI’s Video Certification board.
